Built in 1989 in a Georgian Style, The Southgate occupies a commanding position in the heart of the city. Situated next to the city walls and close to the cathedral, the hotel benefits from ample free car parking.
All 110 en suite rooms are equipped with modern facilities including Satellite tv & Mini Bars. There are a number of interconnecting and family rooms making the hotel ideal for those travelling with youngsters. The elegant lounge is an ideal venue to sit and relax before dinner or meet friends or colleagues for an informal meeting or light meal. Avoid high Airport parking fees. The hotel offers up to 14 days free car parking for those jetting out on holiday from Exeter Airport, subject to a minimum of two nights stay.

There are two restaurants to choose from: The Terrace (open lunchtimes only) has an informal atmosphere and offers a Mediterranean style menu with the added benefit of a sunny and secluded patio, whilst Cloisters Restaurant has a more formal but still relaxed feel.
By Car (from the M5):
- Leave the M5 at junction 30.
- Take the 3rd exit off the roundabout then the 2nd left off the dual carriageway, heading towards Dawlish.
- Join the ring road and travel down to the roundabout.
- Take the 3rd exit (Topsham Road) and travel for approximately 2 miles.
- At the large junction you will see the hotel on your right.
- Go around the hotel (keeping it on your left) and turn into Southernhay.
- The free hotel car park is on your left.
